my nan

gone are the days of suffering.

your love, your cooking expertise and your happy ways will live on always.

i will always remember the hours of card playing, scrabble, boggle - you never let us win. i still try to pop my gum like you - i try all the time and after years of you even telling me your secret i cant do it! every time i get dressed up or use the good china i will remember you.

thank you for all your years of wonderful cooking, no ones tomato sauce tastes quite the same as yours. im convinced the missing ingredient is your loving hand. thank you for getting us dressed and feeling like ladies however young and uncomfortable the bows and tights. i promise to get my nails done more often and 'do' my hair.

i miss you but i know you are in very good hands.

ill be seeing ya.

TIME OFF..

sunshine. beach. shopping. repeat.
(oh yes, a lot of eating good food in the midst as well as some working out)

there will be no more posts until i am back in the UK and have moved into our new flat. until then i will enjoy my relaxing week with my family in florida.

ahhhhhhh sunshine.

stay tuned!

BIRTHDAY FUN AT BRIGHTON

In celebration of my Papa's 94th birthday and my soon to be 30th birthday, Lee took me to the seaside town of Brighton yesterday! It's a very popular destination for British and tourists alike, and an easy day-trip as it's only 45min from London. With wonderful shopping alley's and an amusement park (the Brighton Pier) we spent the whole day wondering around enjoying the beautiful weather and of course playing games!

Upon arrival we had a little breakfast at Puccino's cafe.  Here's a photo of the hilarious sayings on it's plates, and packaging. (i was checking everything for a new saying .. sugar packets - the underside of the dishes - the bottom of the coffee cup) What a fun way to wake up!

After walking the shops we of course played everything that wouldnt make us dizzy on the Brighton Pier.

Tickets from 'Deal or No Deal' which we were able to get a matchbox motorcycle with.

After driving back and setting a skype time with my family in Florida (Nana/Papa, Mariane, Peter, Austin and Helana - and my Mom and Dad!) my PAPA called me!! How cool is that! 94 and on skpye, up-to-date with ipod gear and now with an iphone in hand. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU PAPA!!!!!!

HUNT FOR THE RED ----

This is it! Here we are! OCTOBER 1. This is my month.

Its the start of the real Fall/Autumn weather - my favorite season for clothing!

There is Halloween to celebrate, Columbus Day (for those in the States), pumpkin carving contests, face paintings at carnivals, 'fall' home decorations ... leaves falling...cold nights....endless wonderful Fall doings. and of course...my birthday!  -- the same day that the JFK Library was opened in Boston. (oh, and a lot of other loved one's this month as well - my Papa, my good friend Marissa who is a new mommy, my good friend Pete who is getting married on the 24th....and so on.)

If you didn't know, I turn 30 this year....not till closer to the end, but alas, this month my 20's will end. I'm really excited about it acutally! AND... I get to treat myself all month, because, well, why not!

New boots - check!
Flight home for Thanksgiving - check!
Sis in town for the weekend here in London - check!
Dinner out with my man (and whatever else is planned) - check!

YEAY for October!

102 Minutes That Changed America

Last night Lee and I watched a documentary on 9/11. I remember where I was this day, what I was doing and how I felt. I was not in NY. I did not have any direct family or friends who were hurt or lost someone special, however I feel just as much as those who did. This documentary was an excellent collection of footage and voice recordings.  It was very difficult to watch, and I can only imagine how those people involved must have felt.

Please take time out of your day on the 9th to remember where you were and how you felt, but more importantly those who lost loved ones.

FAMILY ARE AWESOME

What is better than Mom? Only an awesome combination of an awesome Mom, Dad and sister (brothers and sister-in-laws too!) oh .. well i guess dogs should be included in this one as well. I'm not getting to the point... the point is that my awesome Mom (and Sister) sent me two boxes from home. I received one today!! This might not seem all that exciting for anyone but me... but it's like Christmas - just items I already know, have worn and love!   So, golf shoes, hiking boots, back pack and a whoooole lotta ADEA are now unpacked and organized. Since the weather has turned cold I was getting worried that my already limited (current) closet wasn't going to be enough. I can't wait for box #2!!! Mom packed stuff I forgot I even had! She does have the best fashion sense, has the best packing abilities, and really is who I got my superb organizing skills from; no wait, that's just because I love it.

Come ooooooooooon box #2!!

DOGS

I should have posted this yesterday as this was posted in The Sun (or the Guardian?) this morning... but, we at Neoco saw it yesterday!! Anyway ... Katie DiPierro would be so proud... ;) Maybe Tiber and Bailey get some new do's ... Check out all the photos here...FUN DOGS

CAPE FOR THE 4TH

I had a wonderful SUNNY weekend at the Cape. Just a quick overnight .. with NO traffic. Wow, I know. I'm lucky! A little beach time, a lot of family time.

STONE STEPS

I promised photos when i was finished with the walkway ... I think I'm as finished as I'll get for now at least. I'm excited for moss and grasses to start filling in the blanks. I'll have to update the photo a year from now. BEFORE photo this was taken before the stairwell was enclosed... AFTER photo Here it is!! The area off to the right will get filled in this summer; once they are tied in together, and the moss and grass has grown in it will look fantastic! I'm not a gardener or a landscape designer / architect ... but I think it looks great! My sister is happy...the water drains away from the house (key for a well protected home) and we didn't have to purchase a single stone!!! All rocks were on site (this is the ROCKIEST yard I have ever seen!) and some were taken from my parents backyard. They had a lot of left overs from their patio built years ago.

IT'S A MAN'S WEEKEND

Happy Birthday to my little brother Marky. (fine, he's not that little. he's 27 now) His birthday is today! He and his wife are spending the lovely, windy, rainy, cloudy, cold summers day at the Cape in a movie theater. I heard he got a sweet mounted striped bass. (no, it does not sing like the McDonald's commercial one) I hope everyone is celebrating Father's Day somehow. We are having a BBQ for my Father; although this may mean grill and stand under some cover and run back inside for warmth and dryness. So really it's just the food that will be BBQ'd. What's most important is that we are all together. Should you know any dad's send them a card, give a hug or at least a little hello call. OH and also, my other brother, Mike...suuureee, we'll call him Mikey (but he's older by a year) is moving to go to grad school in the fall at UNC. CONGRATS TO HIM i know! We are helping him move out of he and his wife's place in Waltham, MA on Monday.

CONGRATS TO US!

Well a few items to note... #1. My sister just purchased a second house. It's lake front on the Worcester side of Lake Quinsig. :) It's SO cute. She's looking for renters ... #2. I have purchased my one-way fight to London! July 7th ...

Congrats are in order..

For my near-brother Matthew Beaton for getting elected in Shrewsbury for Town Member! YEAY. (yes i voted). Matt runs an environmental friendly construction company :: www.beatonconstruction.com :: and an energy audit company :: residential energy solutions. He will do great things for Shrewsbury as he always has!

For girls and guys..

For gifts or for yourself! Rosemary is hands down the best Esthetician the Shrewsbury area has! Not only is she one of my best friends, a great mom, a super sister, daughter and all that, she gives the BEST facials! If you find yourself in Shrewsbury ... she is the best!

Spring Cleaning

What a gorgeous weekend we are having! and what a better way to celebrate that wonderful weather than inside at a mall!!! (only slightly joking) Adea had a nice set up at the Atrium Mall Friday for a chance to win a $500 give-a-way! The lucky winner will find out soon! After weeks of cleaning out the house and filtering thru out all the items in the basement, the closets, the hidden cabinets, the computer extra computer things, clothes, shoes, accessories, you name it... we finally had a big yard sale! up early with the buyers prompt at 7am things were flying out of the driveway! Around 3pm we loaded up the Tahoe with the leftover items and brought them to Goodwill. Not a bad day all in all... Mom and I split the profits, definitely a welcomed padding to the purse after weeks of hard work. this photo was taken around 9am during a lull from consumer traffic! notice the watchdog always in the middle of the action.

Nicoletta.

Today was the christening of little Nicoletta Elizabeth Shanley, our cousin Paula’s beautiful baby with husband Andy. The baptism followed a Mass at St. Anne’s in Leominster, MA accompanied by two other babies getting the sacrament. A wonderful meal was served after the church at Chocksett Inn in Sterling, MA. See photo for beaming mom and (my sis) godmother! Congrats Shanley’s and Schiavitti’s!!!! (this photo was not taken with my new Nikon D40 camera) OH .. and here's late congratulations to my other cousin Paul DiPierro for getting engaged to his girlfriend (now fiancĂ©) Sharon David.

I’m a creative cat..

I’ve rekindled my love with board games (ok, it was never lost..just put it on hold!) From data head to creative cat, activities included getting your teammate to guess a song that you hum or whistle or …acting like a character or famous person or spelling words backwards. oh the hours of fun!!
